Your OCD and Anxiety Therapist in NYC

Meet Angela DiManno, LCSW, PLLC

and throughout NY State

If you’re here…it’s possible that you’ve been in therapy before but never felt like someone could fully understand you. Maybe you’ve been diagnosed with an Anxiety Disorder or OCD, yet didn’t feel like therapy helped you find any lasting relief or peace. Or maybe you’ve never been in therapy and suspect that you might have OCD or an Anxiety Disorder and found yourself scouring the internet for “help” and feel trepidatious about taking the first step. Maybe you’ve never really felt like you could be your true, authentic self. Or you were hesitant to let your guard down, because trusting feels too scary and risky. Then, I welcome you here!

I believe therapy is a sacred space where you can feel safe and supported and go at your own pace. It can be a place where you can truly be your authentic self and take up space!

This may sound familiar…

You experience a constant feeling of dread.

You experience symptoms of anxiety that feel consuming and also experience panic attacks at times.

You feel chronic tension in your body and never feel at peace.

You are exhausted and feeling defeated by your own perfectionism.

You find yourself replaying conversations in your head and feeling anxious that you've said something that was offensive or upsetting

You find it extremely difficult to make decisions and cannot trust thatyou've made the right choices

It feels difficult to “listen” to your gut/intuition because you only feel anxious in your body

My Approach as an OCD & Anxiety Therapist in NYC

I have specialized in working with adults with OCD and Anxiety Disorders for over 22 years. I received a Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology from Loyola University Chicago. Thereafter, I graduated from Wurzweiler School of Social Work at Yeshiva University in NYC with a Masters in Social Work. I was also the Dean's Award recipient and President of Student Government.

I then worked on an inpatient psychiatric unit at Mount Sinai Medical Center in NYC where I gained invaluable experience. I bring decades worth of clinical experience and an approach that is completely attuned to your specific needs.

I utilize Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) principles along with Mindfulness Meditation practices. I integrate and draw from a multitude of therapy modalities in order to create a personalized approach that feels unique to your specific needs.

I believe that treatment involves a perspective that looks at the individual through the lens of the whole person, their environment, attachments, and family dynamics.

I have been a member of the International Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder Foundation (IOCDF) and certified through their Behavioral Therapy Training Institute (BTTI).

Therapy with me is…

Engaging

My approach is very warm and engaging. I believe that therapy is not linear. I believe it is a collaborative, interactive process where we check in regularly and go at your own pace.

Judgement Free

I believe that it is essential that a client feels that therapy is a space that is safe, sacred and where they are never judged. I foster a space where you can feel supported and feel open to be your authentic self.

Inclusive

Along with being a judgement free space, I also believe strongly that therapy be an inclusive experience where everyone is welcomed no matter what your racial, ethnic, religious and/or socioeconomic background. Here, you are truly allowed to be fully you

Our Services

OCD Therapy

Therapy focused on building psychoeducation around OCD, including understanding what it is, how it presents in your life, and the ways it may affect overall functioning. We will explore how grief and loss may be connected to the impact OCD has had on your social, professional, and personal life.

Anxiety Therapy

Therapy focused on decreasing the severity and frequency of anxiety symptoms. We will explore the different ways anxiety presents across various areas of your life and identify patterns that may be contributing to distress. You will develop greater comfort, awareness, and ease within your own body.

Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP)Therapy

Therapy focused on gradually and intentionally facing fears and intrusive thoughts while building the ability to tolerate uncertainty and anxiety without relying on reassurance or engaging in compulsive behaviors. We will move at a pace that feels manageable for you, while creating a safe, supportive environment throughout each step of the process.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) & Mindfulness

Therapy focused on learning to approach thoughts and emotions with greater compassion and curiosity rather than harsh self-judgment. You will develop both formal and informal mindfulness practices while learning to live more consistently with your values, recognize that thoughts are not always facts, and feel more grounded and present within your body.
