Anxiety can feel like chronic tension in your body. It can make you fearful and avoid certain places/situations/things. It can be excessively worrying about things that haven’t happened yet. Anxiety can feel extremely distressing and uncomfortable in your body. Anxiety takes away precious time from the things you enjoy because you spend so much time anticipating situations in order to help you feel less fearful of them but rarely feel relief.

You might find yourself replaying conversations for possible mistakes or things you may have said that could be misinterpreted or offensive. Perhaps you experience panic attacks and find yourself avoiding the very places that you experienced them for fear that another one will occur if you do. You find yourself unable to be present or experience any peace in your body. You cannot distinguish what your intuition is saying because anxiety is interfering. You no longer trust yourself or your decisions and second guess yourself constantly.

Anxiety therapy offers… understanding what keeps you stuck in similar patterns of behavior and offering a different way of responding. Anxiety Therapy helps build skills and confidence in yourself and helps you feel safe and grounded in your body.

Does this feel familiar?

You feel …like your world has become small and completely dictated by your fears and anxiety

No matter what you do…you cannot sit still and so you keep yourself extremely busy so you don’t have to sit with your thoughts because they feel too overwhelming.

You want to feel more at peace in your mind and body and to foster the ability to notice what different thoughts and emotions bring up in your body.

You’re tired of …not feeling like yourself anymore.

In our work together, we will look at all the ways in which anxiety is showing up across different areas of your life. We will work to help you learn to relate differently to your own thoughts and emotions and feel more present in your own body.

You’ve been surviving for so long…that you’ve forgotten that it is possible to not just survive, but to thrive, to live your life fully as your most authentic self. Therapy for Anxiety can help you identify distorted thought patterns that have led to behaviors that are keeping you stuck. You can learn to accept that anxiety, in itself is a protective measure and is signaling to your brain that there is something wrong, even when there is no real danger. You can learn to face your fears and not let avoidant behaviors interfere in your life any longer. The goal of Therapy for Anxiety is not to necessary eliminate the fear or anxiety entirely, but instead to learn acceptance and a different way of responding and feeling calmer and safer in your body.

We will work together to help you develop confidence that you do not have to accept every thought as fact. We will work to help you change the very ways in which you respond to your thoughts and emotions, helping you also feel calmer in your body. I believe in custom tailoring therapy to fit your needs. I believe in fostering a space that is genuine, where you are allowed to take up space and be completely you, without judgement.

Therapy for Anxiety is not about changing the actual anxiety itself, which is out of our control, instead it is about acceptance, and changing your response and the way you relate to your thoughts, your fears and your anxiety.
