OCD Therapy in NYC and Throughout NY State
Even when you can recognize that your concerns may seem excessive, it can feel incredibly difficult to step away from the very behaviors you use to feel more certain or safe.
Therapy for OCD can help you identify and understand these patterns and help you develop a different way of responding to your thoughts, and the discomfort and uncertainty they bring up in your body.
Together, we will explore all of the ways OCD is showing up in your life. Here, you can learn to tolerate uncomfortable emotions such as fear and anxiety and feel more present in your body.
I utilize evidenced based modalities such as principles of CBT, such as ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), ERP (Exposure and Response Prevention) and integrate Mindfulness meditation practices. In my clinical practice, I have found that integrating these modalities has been extremely effective in the treatment of OCD.
Does this feel familiar?
You feel … like you must respond to your thoughts and that there is always a sense of urgency to do so or you experience dread or intense fear.
No matter what you do… you find it impossible to trust yourself fully.
You want to be able to feel at peace instead of feeling chronically anxious and tense in your own body.
You’re tired of …feeling like you need full certainty and for things to to perfect in order for you to be able to live your life fully.
In our work together, we will… go at your own pace and check in regularly as to what is coming up for you, so that you feel safe and supported each and every step of the way.
I know you’re tired of feeling…
Stuck in your own head. You spend a significant amount of time trying to understand or make sense of your thoughts and fears. You experience thoughts that are bizarre and then feel compelled to do certain things in order to reduce the amount of fear and distress you’re experiencing. Yet, none of it makes any logical sense to you.
You try to reduce the amount of anxiety that you feel because of intrusive thoughts, yet still find yourself getting lost in in endless loops of doubt.
You feel exhausted by trying to gain reassurance and you thus avoid certain people, places/situations, things, etc.
Your world starts to feel small and very isolating.
OCD Therapy in NYC and throughout NY State.
Imagine a world where you can learn to identify and recognize distorted thoughts and be able to to tolerate the uncertainty and doubt that comes up. Where you can learn that you do not need reassurance to be able to fully trust yourself. Imagine a world where you are able to acknowledge your thoughts and emotions without reacting to them. Visualize a world that feels less stressful, less fearful and avoidant and more in line with your authentic self.
